September 11th reminds us of the importance of kindness, courage, and unity as a community. On this day, we remember the lives lost and the heroes who stepped forward to help others. Let us honor them by treating one another with respect and care every day. At this time, please join us in a moment of silence to reflect and remember.

• Today is Patriot Day and Texas First Responders Day. We take time to remember the heroes of September 11th and honor our local firefighters, police officers, and medical workers who keep our communities safe every single day. 

• IT’S GAME DAY, PIRATES! Come out and support your Vidor Pirates as they take on the Navasota Rattlers tonight at Pirate Stadium! Kickoff is at 7:00 PM. Bring your Pirate pride, get loud, and help cheer our Pirates to victory! Let’s go, Pirates! 
• Don’t forget: nominations for grade-level homecoming court royalty will end today at 4:15 pm. You will be using your grade-level Google Classroom for nominations. If you are not in your grade-level Google Classroom, ask your teacher or come by the front office for the code. You may only nominate girls in your grade level. You may only vote ONCE. If you vote more than once, NONE of your nominations will go toward the Homecoming Court Ballot. 
• DND will meet in the cafe on Friday after school at 3:50.

• Don’t forget nominations for grade-level homecoming court royalty. You will be using your grade-level Google Classroom for nominations. You may nominate up to 3 female students from your grade. The nomination period will be open from Wednesday, September 9th at 8:30 a.m. to Friday, September 11th at 4:15 pm. Voting will take place next week to decide on the final ballot. Your name, grade level, and email address must be filled in for your nomination to count. You may only nominate girls in your grade level. You may only vote ONCE. If you vote more than once, NONE of your nominations will go toward the Homecoming Court Ballot. 
• Due to the weather, the Criminal Justice parent meeting has been moved to Tuesday, September 15th at 6:30 p.m. in Room 509. Our first practice will be on Wednesday, September 16th at 4:00 p.m. in Room 509—we hope to see you there! 
• Attention Hope Squad Members- we will be having a meeting on Thursday, September 17th at 7:55 am in the Counselor's Office. We will be nominating Homecoming Sweetheart and Beau, so make sure you attend. If you're a Freshman and were in Hope Squad in 8th grade, please attend so we can get you added to this year's member list. 

• DND will meet in the cafe on Friday after school at 3:50.  

• Our Lady Pirate Varsity Volleyball team took home the WIN over Bridge City last night! Offensive Leaders were Bailey Hardgroder & Brynnley Childs, both with 11 kills each, followed by Tylen Cassell with 14 assists and Alyssa Higgins with 11 assists. Defensive Leaders were Loghan Matherne with 33 digs; Paislee Miller & Tylen Cassell with 15 digs each; and Grace Dollinger with 12 digs. The Lady Pirates are 1-0 in district and take on Silsbee this Friday at home! Come out and support!!!!

• The Sept National Honor Society Meeting will be held today after school at 3:50 OR tomorrow morning before school at 7:50.  Please make plans to attend.  

• The VHS Choir is proud to announce their Homecoming Beau and Sweetheart: Alexis Godeaux and Roger Mercer! We cannot wait to see you represent us in the Homecoming Parade!

• There will be a mandatory Interact Meeting tomorrow morning in the library at 7:45 am. We will have officer elections during this time.
• Attention Juniors and Seniors- tomorrow is our College and Career Fair. Juniors will attend tomorrow after announcements during 2nd period, and seniors will attend at 10 am. Your parents are welcome to attend with you. Wait for the announcement to be released to the gym at your scheduled time tomorrow.

• Don’t forget tomorrow is the FIRST PEP RALLY OF THE SEASON, and we’re ready to kick things off with some serious Pirate spirit! The dress-up theme is PARTY IN THE USA! Break out your red, white, and blue and show off your American pride! Stars, stripes, jerseys, patriotic gear—let’s see who can bring the most school spirit! 
• We will have an informational meeting on Thursday, August 27th, in the pizza cafeteria after school, and on Friday, August 28th, in the morning for anyone interested in learning more about Key Club and getting involved this year. Students will have the opportunity to:

• Learn what Key Club is all about
• Sign up to become a member
• Find out about opportunities to serve and get involved
• Learn about officer positions and opportunities to be a leader this year

Students can attend whichever meeting works best for their schedule. For an information packet, stop by Mrs. Burns' office located in the main office

• Did you know that participating in UIL Academics is not only fun and a chance to win some really cool medals but looks great on college and scholarship applications? If you're interested in joining UIL Academics and participating in journalism, ready writing, science, public speaking, literary criticism, spelling, social studies, computer science, or math and accounting events, please stop by to talk to Mrs. Sanderson in Room 103 this week.

• Interested in joining the Criminal Justice Club? Come to our informational meeting on Tuesday, September 1st at 6:30 p.m. in Room 509 with your parents to learn more about the club and what we have planned this year. Then join us for our first practice on Wednesday, September 2nd at 4:00 p.m. in Room 509—we hope to see you there!

• Attention Staff: Tomorrow, our yearbook staff will be going around during 3rd, 4th, and 6th period to get dress-up day photos. If you would rather we not disturb your class, just place a sticky note on the door, and we won't knock! It doesn't need to say anything on it. Thank you, and we are looking forward to seeing everyone's fun outfits!
